Fit2Go Recipe: Healthy homemade BBQ sauce

Fit2Go Recipe: Healthy homemade BBQ sauce

WHAT IT IS:

A healthier version of a savory BBQ sauce. Without the sugar it is lower calorie than store bought BBQ sauce. Also meets Whole30 and Paleo guidelines but is also lower calorie than  most store bought Whole 30 approved or Paleo BBQ sauce.

This is a tangy unsweetened BBQ sauce. I recommend sweetening with pineapple juice if you prefer it to be a bit sweeter. Just don’t forget to add the calories if you do this!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

** The links to the seasonings are to Amazon Prime for larger containers of seasonings. I highly recommend buying the large size seasonings from Amazon because these are staple seasonings used in a lot of recipes for calorie free flavor. In the long run when using them frequently it is more cost effective than repeatedly buying small sizes at the grocery store.

  • Recommended Kitchen items below. These are the products I use which I really like and recommend because you won’t be disappointed. Certain kitchen items can really make a difference. Different materials of baking sheets and other cookware (skillets etc.) can distribute the heat to the food differently creating different cook times and different results!

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add all ingredients. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer. Let simmer until thickened, 20 minutes, stirring often. Season with more salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Store in a container in fridge!

This sauce is used in the Healthy BBQ Pork loin recipe!
